Sushi Zento @ Sri Petaling

Image
Sri Petaling is now my go-to place for when I have no idea what to eat as they have a long list of cafes, restaurants, bakeries etc. If you're familiar with this area, then you probably would have seen this Japanese restaurant called Sushi Zento as it is hard to miss. You'll feel like you're at one of the streets in Tokyo just by looking at it.  They really go all out at the interiors. Every corner is brightly lighten. They use a lot of woodwhich makes this whole place very earthy. I personally think that there are too much going on at the first floor as the counter, kitchen, conveyer belt are happening all at once. Plus, the tables downstairs are really close.  We chose to seat upstairs (right picture) as it was quieter and there were no customers seeing that it was on a weekday. The layout upstairs is spacious and they have private rooms too. Tempura Udon (RM20.70) was alright though I find it slightly expensive. Overall, this dish is what it is and there...

OMULAB @ Seksyen 17, PJ [Japanese Fluffy Omelette]

Follow my food account @ fixingcravings on IG for more daily food reviews! It was late at night on a Monday, and I was doing what I do best, scrolling through food accounts on Instagram and I somehow ended up on Omulab's account. I found my self binged watching all the ever so satisfying videos of people slicing open their fluffy omelette that I had a sudden crave attack and FOMO. I then asked my friend to bring me there (I don't drive) for lunch on Wednesday.   Tucked in a row of shops in Seksyen 17, Omulab is definitely hard to miss as I can already spot that two "eggy heads" from far. It is also very thoughtful of Omulab because they have private parking space, just a drive further down the road for their customers.   We reached there just before 12pm and there were only a few tables occupied. They kept the interior minimal with pops of yellow yet still keeping up with the trend of neon signs and industrial looking lights. All their main...

Is Eating Suki-Ya As A Vegetarian Worth It?

Image
EAT WHAT LEH?  Last month, my friend and I went to Suki-ya for lunch. As you know, the best part about Shabu-Shabu is the free flow of meats. We planned this in January, before I went on my meat-less diet. I didn't want to cancel the lunch as it was my treat for my friend's birthday and we had been waiting for it for months. As the days got nearer to our lunch date, I thought to myself "What exactly am I going to eat? Will it still be worth the money if I don't eat the meats?". We went there on a Friday afternoon and it was really crowded and if not mistaken, there weren't any empty tables. I did called a week before to make reservations but they said that they only allow walk-ins now.      If you're unfamiliar with Suki-Ya, it is a Japanese restaurant. They have ala carte dishes but people mainly go for their all you can eat buffet. There's the buffet bar that has a good selection of items for your hot pots, a variety of sushi, dippin...
