Dancing Fish @ Bangsar Shopping Center

We had relatives from overseas that came to visit and of course, we had to bring them to a place that serves good local food that we can proudly present to them. The first place that came to my dad's mind was Dancing Fish that is no stranger to any gastronome. They serve contemporary Malay-Indo cuisine had been around for 7 years now and is still holding their place strongly, in the F&B industry.
I've just found out that Dancing Fish had recently revamped 40% of their menu. We started off with the Emping with Sambal Terasi (RM7.45). The crackers here at Dancing Fish are made from 100% melinjo nuts and has a nutty and bitter taste. Oh, the sambal really does packs a punch!
What's a trip to Dancing Fish if you don't order their signature dish? We had the Dancing Fish (Nila Goreng) with Asam Kedondong Pedas (RM58.75). The whole fish is deepfried till crispy that you can even the eat the bones too. Definitely the most picture worthy looking fish. On the other note, if you're sharing this with a group of 4-5, it might not be enough as there are barely any meat.
Gulai Pucuk Paku (RM18.50) was definitely the perfect dish to pair with our hot steaming white rice. Young jungle fern shoots cooked with turmeric, coconut milk & spices. This dish really channels the Asian flavours. I flooded my rice with the sauce which made every bite memorable.
Their Udang Sambal were nicely wok fried. Prawns were juicy and went really well with their sambal goreng sauce.
My favourite dish was their Tahu Telur (RM15.20). A tower of tahu and flossy egg mixture, served with their tangy special sambal tahu sauce, this really is an interesting tahu dish. The outer layer is crispy and has a caramelised sweetness to it. Inner layer is a combination of soft tahu and egg and I prefer eating it on it's own, without the sauce. All in all a really addictive dish that I had 70% of the tower.
Their Chicken Satay (RM24.60) was hands down the best satay I've had. The marinated chicken strips were charcoal-grilled to tender. Outer layer has a fragrant charred and caramelised sweet taste and the meat was really soft. This was also a favourite among the kids. This dish was served with satay peanut sauce and starfruit salad.
BBQ Beef Ribs with Green & Red Chillies (RM75.40). The Austrailian short ribs are marinated 24 hours with various herbs & spices. Meat were grilled till tender. The green chilli was one of the better chilli I've tasted and all the adults loved it that it became the talk of the table for a good 15 minutes.

OVERALL VERDICT:

Food: 8/10 It had been awhile since the last time I had a good dinner. Every dishes are uniquely different and one of a kind.

Price: 6/10

Ambience: Loved the whole classy and sophisticated interiors that uses a lot of Malay-Indo cultures like batiks, but with a modern touch.

Would I Return?: Yes, if I ever want to bring friends from overseas for some good local food.
