Noodle Shack @ IPC Shopping Mall

[This is my second review at Noodle Shack. If you haven't check out my first one, where I tried all of their meat-less dishes, click here to read]

Ever since the first time I discovered this place, it had became my go-to place for good yet affordable noodles. The dishes here do not contain MSG, another point added to the board. I actually had a chat with one of the owner, Natalie, and she told me that both her husband and herself are allergic to MSGs so they always make sure that their dishes do not contain any.

Although I've had many meals there, I've never tried their other dishes as I'm already pleased with their meat-less ones and I always eat the same thing. Boring, I know. But hey, I finally decided to try something else and here are my thoughts on them.
This is basically "Pan Mee". To my non-Chinese readers, Pan Mee is a Hakka-style noodle and there's the dry and soup version. Here, you'll get a good amount of bean curd skin, black fungus and mushrooms, crispy anchovies, ground meat (chicken), sweet potato leaves and spring onions. I always go for hand torn noodles whenever I eat the soup version and prefer them to be thick and chewy. The noodles here are thin, smooth and silky that there are times where I find it difficult to get a grip of them with my chopsticks.

The soup is the core of any Pan Mee dish and they are boiled with anchovies for a few good hours. Dad and I really liked the soup which has mild sweetness from the long hours of boiling and it's not oily though it is not the best pan mee I had. Can you see that there's no oil on the surface of the soup? It almost felt too healthy when I ate it (in a good way!) Eat it with their chilli sauce for a kick of spiciness.
This sounded really good and I've always wanted to try it. Anything that comes with sambal, I'm in! It consists of flat noodle, ground chicken, lots of greens,  egg and the sambal! You can add the sambal as many or as little as you like, depending on how well you can handle the spiciness *winks*
Who agrees that dry noodle always tastes better after mixing it with runny egg yolk? *drools* The main attention of this dish is definitely the sambal. This is my favourite dish out of all the others that I tried that day. If you love spicy food and runny yolks, try this!
Coriander Hand Torn Noodle (RM15.90)
Warning! If you don't like the taste of coriander or your dish being too herby and healthy tasting, this is not for you. The coriander taste is very strong. The green noodle is achieved by blending coriander into the dough. I prefer this over the pan mee as this is something different and has more flavour to it.
Dad loved the deep fried bean curd roll that's drizzled with taucu sauce which is bean paste (RM9.90). It's just something nice to nibble on while you wait for your food to arrive. We both like the homemade fish ball (RM8.90) too. Homemade = healthier (my logic). I also like that they are very generous with the vege.
I didn't think that I will like any of the teas as I'm not much of a tea person but to my surprise, I really like their Ginseng Oolong Tea (RM4 per pax). It has this sweet after taste to it that I wasn't expecting. As for their Dong Ding Oolong Tea (RM5) and Emperor Chrysanthemum (RM5 per pax), there's nothing much to shout about.

OVERALL VERDICT:

FOOD: 7/10 PS:(THEY DON'T SERVE PORK)

PRICE: AFFORDABLE

AMBIANCE: LOVE THE HOME-Y DECORS AND VIBE THERE

WOULD I RETURN?: YES!

OTHERS: I NORMALLY GET REALLY THIRSTY AFTER EATING THESE TYPE OF DISHES BECAUSE OF THE OILINESS, BUT I DIDN'T FELT THAT WAY AFTER MY MEAL HERE.
